French President Emmanuel Macron called Israel's military operations in Palestinian territories and Lebanon unacceptable and stated that this policy is not in line with Israel's national interests.
Modern.az reports that Macron voiced these views in an interview with France 2 television.
The President emphasized that operations in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, and Lebanon, in particular, are against Israel's own interests in the long term:
"This policy creates dissatisfaction among all peoples in the region. Israel is not only fighting terrorists but also carrying out unjust attacks against civilians. Israel's security cannot be ensured at the expense of occupying neighboring territories. We call on the Israeli leadership to act more cautiously and rationally in military operations."
Macron also noted that US President Donald Trump's attitude towards Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has changed in recent days, stating that this could affect the peace process.
It should be recalled that the Israeli head of government had previously stated that the withdrawal of troops from southern Lebanon is not foreseen without ensuring the security of his country.
