The government led by Prime Minister Inga Rugienė in Lithuania has resigned. The cabinet, which remained in power for approximately nine months, has officially ceased its activities.

It is stated that the government's resignation occurred after the formation of a new ruling coalition in the country and the nomination of Mindaugas Sinkevičius, chairman of the Lithuanian Social Democratic Party (LSDP), for the post of Prime Minister.
The main priorities of Lithuania's new government to be formed have also been announced. According to the coalition agreement, official Vilnius will seek to achieve a long-term presence of US troops in the country.
The document also includes the government's commitments to strengthen the air defense system, support Ukraine and its NATO integration with the European Union (EU) partnership, as well as maintain Lithuania's defense spending at least at 5% of GDP.
