Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan have signed a new trilateral defense agreement called the "Mecca Agreement".

Modern.az reports that Turkish media spread information about this.

According to the information, the main provision of the agreement is the principle of collective defense. According to the document, an armed attack against one of the three states will be considered an attack against all three countries.

It was stated that the "Mecca Agreement" serves to strengthen the collective deterrence mechanism and expand all directions of cooperation in the field of defense in order to prevent aggression.

A Turkish official, however, stated that the agreement is not directed against any specific country or party. According to him, the agreement is open for other states in the region to join.
