In Armenia, the topic of relations between Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and his wife Anna Hakobyan has resurfaced. It is not entirely clear whether the couple, who separated a few months ago, have reconciled.
Modern.az reports that new claims regarding Pashinyan and Hakobyan's relationship have been spread in the Armenian media.
Local media writes that the couple still does not follow each other on the "Instagram" social network.
In February of this year, Anna Hakobyan announced that she was no longer Nikol Pashinyan's wife and had left the government residence. Later, they also stopped following each other on social media.
However, on the eve of the parliamentary elections, Anna Hakobyan was seen again at the government residence. Answering journalists' questions, Nikol Pashinyan said that he was grateful to his wife for giving him another chance to restore the family.
But after the elections, Anna Hakobyan was not seen with Pashinyan at public events. The media writes that the prime minister, who went on a long vacation, made various trips, and appeared in public places, was not seen with his wife during this period.
The article in the Armenian media notes that Anna Hakobyan recently spoke on the topic of domestic violence, urging women not to hide such cases and proposing to toughen legislation. She also stated that she felt threats against her after bringing up this topic.
In addition, Armenian media noted that Pashinyan indicated Anna Hakobyan as a family member in his latest income declaration, but despite this, they still do not follow each other on "Instagram".
Armenian media wrote that questions about the couple's relationship still remain open.
On February 27 of this year, Anna Hakobyan announced her separation from Nikol Pashinyan. She stated that she had left the government residence and moved to a rented apartment.
Nikol Pashinyan and Anna Hakobyan are classmates. They first met in 1991 while studying journalism at the Faculty of Philology of Yerevan State University.
Anna Hakobyan is 3 years younger than Nikol Pashinyan; she was born in 1978, and the Prime Minister in 1975.
Nikol and Anna were also colleagues. In 1999, Nikol Pashinyan founded the daily newspaper "Haykakan Zhamanak" ("Armenian Time"), and led it until 2012. In 2013, his wife Anna Hakobyan took over as editor-in-chief.
In 2018, Anna Hakobyan founded the "My Step" charitable foundation.
Anna and Nikol have 4 children: son Ashot, daughters Mariam, Shushanna, and Arpine.
