The US Congress Senate has approved a bill to tighten sanctions against Russia and Iran.
Modern.az reports that the vote was published on the Senate's website.
86 senators voted in favor of the initiative, and 11 senators voted against it.
The document is expected to be considered in the House of Representatives of Congress in September. It is not excluded that some congressmen in the lower house will oppose the project. The reason for this is the introduction of new customs duties related to Russia and Iran.
Senators also voted against an amendment on August 7 that limited the US president's authority to impose customs duties on countries importing Russian oil and gas.
The Senate vote was held before lawmakers went on a five-week summer recess.
