The first day of talks between Israel and Lebanon in Washington ended without result, and even a certain regression was observed.
Modern.az reports that Barak Ravid, a correspondent for "Axios", wrote about this on the social network "X" citing two informed sources.
According to them, the talks intensified during the day, but Israeli officials claim that the atmosphere was "pleasant". Ravid noted that the parties maintain serious disagreements regarding the scope and timing of the possible withdrawal of Israeli troops from Lebanese territory.
"From conversations with sources familiar with the talks, I get the impression that the first day of talks was so unproductive that American mediators decided to start everything over today in the hope of softening the parties' positions," he noted.
