The number of deaths from Ebola fever raging in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has reached 796.
Modern.az reports that the World Health Organization (WHO) announced this on its "X" social network account.
The organization's report states that a total of 2073 cases of infection have been registered in the country, 796 of which resulted in death. The geography of the epidemic is also rapidly expanding; thus, on July 13, it became known that the dangerous virus had spread to two new provinces of the country.
It should be recalled that on May 17 of this year, WHO declared the Ebola epidemic spreading in Congo and neighboring Uganda a global health emergency. The main point complicating the situation is that there is currently no officially licensed effective treatment method or vaccine against the rapidly spreading "Bundibugyo" strain. For this reason, patients are only provided with palliative medical care, which includes isolating patients, maintaining the p's fluid balance, and reducing pain.
It should be noted that some time ago, information was spread that the first vaccine trials against this dangerous strain raging in Africa had begun.
