There have always been talented players in world football. However, there are some footballers who are loved not only for the goals they score, spectacular dribbles, or titles they win. Despite being only 18 years old, Lamine Yamal is one such footballer who has already won the admiration of millions.

He is not only a young man who rose from a poor neighborhood to the pinnacle of world football, but he also stands out for his attachment to his family, the neighborhood where he was born, and his roots. That is why Yamal today is not only a star of "Barcelona" and the Spanish national team, but also one of the most beloved football figures of the new generation.

The other day, 18-year-old Lamine Yamal also attracted attention with his successful performance in the semi-final stage of the World Cup. The footballer earned a penalty kick for his team in the match against the French national team and is remembered for his stable play throughout the tournament.

Modern.az reminds that behind this success lies a difficult childhood, poverty, family drama, and great effort that many do not know about.

Life started in a poor neighborhood

Lamine Yamal was born in Barcelona to a Moroccan father, Munir Nasraoui, and an Equatorial Guinean mother, Sheila Ebana. His father worked as a painter, and his mother as a waitress.

The family settled in a neighborhood of Barcelona called Rocafonda, mainly inhabited by migrants. According to the Spanish National Institute of Statistics, approximately half of the people living there lived below the poverty line.

Yamal's parents separated when he was only three years old. Nevertheless, they showed unity in raising their children. Although Lamine lived with his mother in Granollers, he often went to Mataró to spend time with his father.

A football fairy tale that began at the age of four

Yamal started playing football at the age of four at the "La Torreta" club.

At the age of six, his life completely changed. After watching this little talent, "Barcelona" scouts invited him to the famous "La Masia" academy.

From his first years at the academy, everyone understood that they were not dealing with an ordinary footballer.

His coach Albert Puig later recalled:

"It didn't surprise me that he was better than the others. What amazed me was that as the years passed, the difference grew even bigger instead of shrinking."

These words were later confirmed.

Xavi brought the 15-year-old talent to the main team

Yamal broke records in all age groups of "La Masia". Scoring 56 goals in 30 games in one season made him the academy's brightest talent.

Xavi Hernandez, then head coach of "Barcelona", invited the 15-year-old footballer to the main team's training sessions. A short time later, Yamal debuted as one of the youngest footballers in the club's history.

The club believed so much in his future that a 1 billion euro release clause was added to his contract.

Yamal's talent quickly began to be discussed not only in "La Masia" but throughout the football world. Xavi Hernandez, who brought him to the main team, said the following about the young footballer:

"He is one of the chosen footballers. He reminded me of Messi and Neymar."

Pep Guardiola, head coach of "Manchester City", called Yamal "one of the very rare footballers born" and stated that he believes he will be a dominant force in world football for many years.

Marcelo Bielsa, considered one of the most influential experts in football, also compared Yamal's individual qualities to Lionel Messi. He emphasized that the young footballer has the ability to change the fate of the game alone, even when surrounded by several opponents.

Interestingly, even opponents admit Yamal's strength. Thibaut Courtois, goalkeeper for "Real Madrid" and the Belgian national team, stated that one defender is not enough to stop Lamine Yamal. According to him, it is always necessary to play with two people against such a footballer.

Three countries, one identity

Lamine Yamal never forgets where he comes from. When he steps onto the field in a "Barcelona" jersey, he always carries the flags of three countries on his boots:

Spain – the country where he was born;

Morocco – his father's homeland;

Equatorial Guinea – the land where his mother was born.

This choice is not just a design element for him, but an expression of respect for his family, his past, and his roots.

"304" – the secret that interests the whole world

After scoring a goal, Yamal displays a special celebration, showing the number "304" with his hands.

Many fans initially thought it was a secret message. In fact, "304" is the last three digits of the postal code of the Rocafonda neighborhood where he grew up.

Today, children in that neighborhood experience the same joy after scoring a goal. The inscriptions "304" on walls, playgrounds, and graffiti have already become a symbol of Rocafonda.

Messi and the strange game of fate

Years ago, Lionel Messi bathed a six-month-old baby during a photoshoot for a charity calendar.

At that time, no one imagined that the baby would become Lamine Yamal, one of the greatest talents in world football.

When the photos resurfaced years later, thousands of users on social media commented on it as "Messi blessing the future star."

Of course, this is just an interesting coincidence. But those frames are already considered one of the most symbolic photos in football history.

Why does everyone love Lamine Yamal?

The secret to Lamine Yamal becoming a phenomenon is not only in his records or football talent.

He is the hero of a story in which millions of young people can see themselves. A footballer born into a migrant family, raised in a poor neighborhood, who did not forget his roots after achieving success, and who sends a greeting with the "304" sign to the streets where he spent his childhood after every goal...

Perhaps that is why he is applauded not only by "Barcelona" fans but also by supporters of rival teams. Although the football community often compares him to Lionel Messi, Yamal himself tries to stay away from these comparisons. He has repeatedly stated that Messi is one of the greatest players in football history, but his goal is not to replicate anyone.

Perhaps this is the main feature that distinguishes Lamine Yamal from others. He does not want to be the second Messi. He wants to leave his mark as the first Lamine Yamal in football history.
