The number of people with Down syndrome registered in medical institutions in Azerbaijan has increased in the last five years.
Modern.az reports that this is shown by the statistical indicators released by the State Statistical Committee for 2021–2025.
According to the information, while the total number of people registered with Down syndrome was 857 in 2021, it increased to 977 in 2022, 1172 in 2023, and 1259 in 2024. In 2025, this indicator was 1122 people.
According to statistics, in the last five years, the number of people with Down syndrome registered among men increased from 485 to 624, and the number of women increased from 372 to 498.
According to age group indicators, the number of registered people aged 0–13 was 594 in 2021, 664 in 2022, 797 in 2023, 861 in 2024, and 703 in 2025.
The number of registered people in the 14–17 age group was 120, 141, 169, 176, and 167, respectively.
The increase continued in the 18 and above age category. While the number of registered people in this age group was 143 in 2021, it reached 172 in 2022, 206 in 2023, 222 in 2024, and 252 in 2025.
