It is reported that Robert Shageyev, a 1st rank captain of the Russian Navy, who was killed today in Sevastopol, a city in Russia's annexed Crimea, previously served in the Ukrainian Navy.
Modern.az reports, citing Ukrainian media, that Shageyev was once the commander of the Ukrainian Navy's "Zaporozhye" submarine.
In 2014, after the annexation of Crimea and Sevastopol by Russia, he defected to the other side and began serving in the Russian Navy.
Shageyev is reported to have been killed today in Sevastopol as a result of an explosive device going off.
