Armenia may increase the rent for the 102nd Russian military base located in Gyumri if Russia increases the price of gas.
Modern.az reports that Vilen Gabrielyan, head of the Armenian Parliament's Defense and Security Committee and a deputy from Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's party, stated this in an interview with "Factor" publication.
He commented on Pashinyan's statement yesterday that if Russia increases the price of gas, Armenia could also set prices for services and resources that have been free until now, or increase existing prices.
According to Gabrielyan, this approach could also apply to the 102nd Russian military base.
"My personal opinion is that such a recalculation can also be made regarding the financial issues of the base. Because, as we know, the area where the base is located and its maintenance are mainly carried out at the expense of Armenia," the deputy said.
It should be noted that the 102nd Russian military base is located in Gyumri, Armenia.
