Significant changes have been recorded in countries' gold reserves recently. While some countries have increased their gold purchases to expand their reserves, a decrease in gold reserves has been observed in several states.
Modern.az reports that, according to data based on the International Monetary Fund's (IMF) IFS statistics, the largest decrease in gold reserves was recorded in Russia, Turkey, Mexico, Malta, and Romania.
Russia leads the list. The country's gold reserves decreased by 21.77 tons this year.
Turkey is in second place. A decrease of 4.23 tons was recorded in Turkey's gold reserves.
Mexico ranked third among the countries that reduced their gold reserves the most. In this country, the indicator decreased by 0.10 tons.
Malta is in fourth place with a decrease of 0.03 tons, and Romania is in fifth place with a decrease of 0.01 tons.
Thus, the list of the top 5 countries that reduced their gold reserves the most is as follows:
Russia - 21.77 tons
Turkey - 4.23 tons
Mexico - 100 kg
Malta - 30 kg
Romania - 10 kg
The data also showed the countries that increased their gold reserves.
Poland was the country that bought the most gold during the past period. Official Warsaw purchased 50.79 tons of gold. China is second with 32.97 tons, among Turkic states, Uzbekistan is third with 16.17 tons, Kazakhstan is fourth with 14.78 tons, and Singapore is fifth with 9.86 tons.
