The operation of taxis in Azerbaijan will be allowed within the territorial limits specified in the permit card.
Modern.az reports that a group of drivers stated that they had received notifications regarding this.
They stated that the notification reminded drivers of the requirements of the relevant legislation. It was noted, stemming from the requirements of this very law, that orders in the territory of Sumgayit or Baku can only be fulfilled with a permit card valid in that city.
Thus, for vehicles without a permit card for Sumgayit, orders are restricted in that city, and for vehicles without a permit card for Baku, orders are restricted in the capital.
In response to an inquiry from İqtisadiyyat.az, the Azerbaijan Land Transport Agency (AYNA) stated that, according to Article 20.2 of the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan “On Motor Transport”, passenger transportation by taxi cars is carried out along an irregular route based on the order of any person within the territorial limits specified in the permit card.
It was noted that, at the same time, according to paragraph 322.0.13. of the Code of Administrative Offenses, a fine of 50 manats is stipulated for carrying out passenger transportation by taxi cars outside the territorial limits specified in the permit card.
Drivers can apply to AYNA to obtain the relevant permit card for the city where they wish to operate as a taxi.
It should be recalled that, according to the relevant decision of the Cabinet of Ministers, for the administrative territorial unit of Baku city, the limit on the number of appendices (permit cards) issued for passenger transportation by taxi cars has been set at 25,000 units.
