The unity of the Turkic world is based on common history, language and values.
Modern.az reports that these words were said by Ünal Üstel, Prime Minister of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, during his speech at a press conference held within the framework of "Northern Cyprus Culture Day" in Baku.
"The relations between Turkey, Azerbaijan and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus cannot be explained only within a diplomatic framework. These relations are formed on common history, language, culture and values. This is not an ordinary interstate relation. This relation is a bond of hearts, a unity of destiny. We express this with one sentence: 'One nation, three states'."
Ü.Üstel emphasized that the main factor uniting peoples is common cultural heritage and faith in the future:
"What connects us to each other is our common history, common language, common culture, common values and our faith in the future. The cultural values displayed here today are the most beautiful indicator of this. Every piece of music, folk dance and art brought from Northern Cyprus reflects the memory of the Turkic world nourished by a common root."
The Prime Minister also touched upon Azerbaijan's National Salvation Day in his speech and emphasized the historical importance of June 15:
"My dear brothers, I sincerely congratulate you on June 15 - your National Salvation Day. This date is the day when Azerbaijan's unity and statehood will were strengthened again. June 15 is an important turning point in the path of independent Azerbaijan's rise."
The Prime Minister added that the statehood line determined by Heydar Aliyev has been further strengthened today under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev:
"The statehood vision of the late Heydar Aliyev has been further strengthened today under the leadership of Mr. President Ilham Aliyev, turning Azerbaijan into one of the leading countries of the region and the Turkic world. Strong Azerbaijan is the pride not only of the Azerbaijani people, but of the entire Turkic world."
At the end of his speech, he noted that Northern Cyprus is in solidarity with Azerbaijan:
"As the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, we see Azerbaijan's joy as our joy, and its success as our success. Because the strength of Azerbaijan is the strength of the Turkic world."
