April 23 - National Sovereignty and Children's Day is celebrated in a different atmosphere this year in Turkey.
Modern.az reports that 9 people, including 8 students and 1 teacher, lost their lives as a result of an armed attack at a school in Kahramanmaraş on April 15.
Due to the tragedy, most of the holiday events across the country have been canceled. Official programs were held in a simpler format. Celebrations planned in schools were mostly postponed or replaced with commemorative events.
