US President Donald Trump has stated that the naval blockade of Iran will remain in effect until a nuclear deal is reached.
Modern.az reports that the president said this in an interview with "Axios".
“The blockade is in some ways more effective than bombing... They are suffocating. They cannot have nuclear weapons. The situation will only get worse for them.
They don't want me to keep the blockade. And I don't want to lift it because I don't want them to have nuclear weapons,” Trump said.
At the same time, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) has developed a plan for a wave of “short and powerful” strikes against Iran to break the deadlock in negotiations, Axios reported.
“As a result, after strikes that would likely affect infrastructure facilities, the US would pressure the regime to return to the negotiating table and show greater flexibility,” the publication writes, citing three informed sources.
