After the Israeli army captured Beaufort Castle, Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam sharply criticized Israel's military actions and called for an immediate ceasefire.

Modern.az reports that "Al Jazeera" TV channel broadcasted this information.

In his official statement, Lebanese government head Nawaf Salam stated that the ongoing air and ground operations in southern Lebanon are leading to dangerous escalation and dealing a heavy blow to stability in the region.

The Prime Minister called these Israeli attacks not only a violation of Lebanon's sovereignty but also an attempt to erase the country's history and a method of collective punishment against the civilian population:

"Israel is pursuing a policy of completely destroying cities and towns, and all means of life there. Civilians are forced to massively evacuate from settlements. This is contrary to international norms. As the Lebanese state, we will not allow our country to become a conflict zone for others."

It should be recalled that this statement by official Beirut was made against the backdrop of the Israeli army crossing the Litani River and taking control of the 12th-century historic Beaufort Castle as a result of a large-scale operation involving the Golani and Givanti brigades. This is considered the deepest incursion by the Israeli army into Lebanese territory in the last 26 years.
