Azerbaijani deaflympic judoka Joshgun Aliyev won a gold medal at the first ever “Ecole Mont-Olivet Deaf Judo Masters Top 18” tournament held in Lausanne, Switzerland.
Modern.az reports that our athlete, competing in the -60 kg weight category, had three matches in a round-robin system.
In the first match, our athlete defeated the 2025 Deaflympic champion, Brazilian Dantes Pedro, with a score of 2:0. In the second match, he lost to Kazakhstani Aktynberk Kakitayev with a score of 0:1. In the last match, he defeated Turkish representative Nurullah Dündar with an ippon and became the winner of the tournament.
Thus, Joshgun Aliyev went down in history as the first Azerbaijani winner of the “Masters Top 18” tournament. This result was recorded as another first in Azerbaijani judo among athletes with hearing impairments.
