Belgium has opposed the use of frozen Russian assets.
Modern.az reports that Belgian Defense Minister Theo Francken has categorically ruled out the possibility of using frozen Russian assets.
Francken emphasized that Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever will continue to block the scheme for providing Ukraine with a loan of 210 billion euros. The Prime Minister froze this mechanism in December 2025 due to high financial risks and concerns about facing the consequences of the confiscation of Russian assets alone.
The Minister also called on the Baltic countries to stop attempts to bring this issue back to the European agenda.
