Modern.az reports that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky wrote this on his "Telegram" channel.
According to Zelensky, Russia began to lose the initiative on the battlefield starting in December 2025. He noted that in January 2026, he told his American partners that there was a window for negotiations, because the Russians would lose more and more soldiers every month.
Zelensky also emphasized that currently Russia cannot occupy more territory in a month than Ukrainian troops liberate.
"Therefore, I believe that we must find a diplomatic solution by next winter - we must sit down and talk. However, this depends on internal pressure from Putin's own society, as well as pressure from the US and Europe on Russia with sanctions," Zelensky added.
