A telephone conversation took place between US President Donald Trump and Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa.
Modern.az reports that Anadolu Agency disseminated information about this, citing the Syrian president's office.
It was noted that during the conversation, the parties discussed the prospects of lifting the US sanctions remaining in force against Syria.
According to the information, Ahmed al-Sharaa told Trump that the removal of the remaining sanctions against Syria would be a fundamental step towards the economic recovery and reconstruction of the country.
Donald Trump, in turn, emphasized the importance of maintaining stability in Syria and supporting the reconstruction process. The US president noted the importance of diplomacy and dialogue for strengthening regional security and peace, as well as preventing further escalation of tension in the region.
During the phone conversation, the leaders also discussed the work done to support Syria's recovery and the latest developments in the region.
