Approximately 40 million adolescents aged 13–15 worldwide use tobacco products.
Modern.az reports that the World Health Organization has released information on this matter.
WHO stated that the organization designs tobacco and nicotine industry products in a way that will lead young people into a period of addiction.
“Let's expose the mechanisms behind the attractiveness of these products and work together for a world free from tobacco addiction,” the statement emphasized.
WHO also drew attention to the increase in e-cigarette use among adolescents. According to the organization's warning, adolescents are up to nine times more likely to use e-cigarettes compared to adults.
Experts believe that nicotine addiction formed at an early age can lead to serious health problems and an increased risk of long-term addiction in the future.
