A 3-day farewell ceremony and a 24-hour procession are planned for the burial of Iran's late Supreme Leader, Seyyed Ali Khamenei.
Modern.az reports, citing “Tasnim,” that this was stated by Mohammadamin Tokulizadeh, assistant to the Deputy Mayor of Tehran for cultural and social affairs.
According to him, extensive preparations for the funeral procession, burial, and interment of the p, with the participation of various institutions and municipalities across the country, are nearing completion.
Mohammadamin Tokulizadeh stated that a 3-day farewell program and a funeral procession lasting at least 24 hours are planned for the p's departure in Tehran. The location of the ceremony is currently being finalized, with the choice being made between Tehran's Musalla and Imam Khomeini's mausoleum. The final decision is expected to be announced today (Tuesday).
Tokulizadeh added that after the ceremony in Tehran, the p will be taken to Qom, and then to Mashhad, for similar events.
According to him, based on the recommendations, Seyyed Ali Khamenei's final resting place will be the shrine of Imam Reza (AS). Given Mashhad's geographical location, a large number of foreign pilgrims from Pakistan, Afghanistan, India, Bangladesh, and the Kashmir region are expected to arrive in the city. For this reason, IRGC forces have made special preparations for the reception of pilgrims and the organization of the funeral ceremony.
Tokulizadeh noted that the large public participation was discussed at a meeting between Tehran Mayor Alireza Zakani and the mayors of major cities, and all municipal leaders stated their full readiness.
He also said that the surrounding cities of Tehran will play an important role in managing the crowd. To accommodate pilgrims coming to the capital from various regions of the country, the cities of Qom, Karaj, Qazvin, Saveh, as well as Semnan, Garmsar, and Varamin in the eastern direction, will serve as overnight accommodation and reception points to ensure that the funeral ceremony is conducted in an orderly and high-level manner.
