US President Donald Trump intends to attend the NATO summit in Ankara in early July.
Modern.az reports that Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said this in an interview with "Bloomberg".
In response to a question about the US President's participation in the NATO summit in Ankara, H. Fidan said: "As far as we know, yes, he plans to participate."
The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke with D. Trump several times by phone last month, and the US leader noted each time that he would attend the summit.
"The US continues to pressure its allies to increase defense spending and take greater responsibility for their own security. Europeans have received this message, they have already taken steps to increase defense budgets within NATO. We will review the progress made when the leaders meet," Fidan added.
