Vardan Ghukasyan, the head of the Shirak province community in Armenia, and a group of individuals were preparing a coup in the country.
Modern.az reports that Armenian media disseminated this information, citing the country's Investigative Committee.
"Vardan Ghukasyan, the head of the Shirak province community, together with other individuals, likely carried out preparatory actions aimed at seizing power in Armenia during 2025 through meetings with various individuals and attracting supporters... However, due to circumstances, their plan did not materialize," the committee stated.
It was noted that in connection with this report, the General Department for the Investigation of Crimes against the State initiated a criminal case under Article 43-419, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of Armenia (preparation for the seizure of power). Within the framework of the criminal proceedings, measures are being taken to identify all individuals involved in this process.
