Iran has stated that the US must answer to the international community regarding its attacks on wedding ceremonies in various countries.

Modern.az reports that this was stated in a statement issued by the Public Relations Department of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

The statement said that the US Central Command (CENTCOM) launched an airstrike on a wedding ceremony in Sirik city, Hormozgan province, Iran, on September 1.

According to the IRGC, about 70 people attending the ceremony were injured or harmed as a result of the attack. It was reported that 4 of them died and 7 injured people were in serious condition.

The IRGC stated that the US also launched attacks on wedding ceremonies in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Yemen in various years and listed a number of incidents.

Among these incidents, it was recalled that more than 100 people died as a result of the bombing of a wedding ceremony in Uruzgan province, Afghanistan, in 2002, 42 people died as a result of an attack on a wedding ceremony in Bakr al-Zib village in Al-Anbar province, Iraq, in 2004, and 47 people, including the bride, died as a result of an attack on a wedding ceremony in Nangarhar province, Afghanistan, in 2008.

The IRGC also claimed that 131 women and children died as a result of an attack on a wedding ceremony in Taiz province, Yemen, in 2015.

"Instead of apologizing, US leaders are again resorting to lies and evading responsibility for this crime. Let them answer to the international community regarding attacks on wedding ceremonies in various countries. Did all these incidents happen by chance and error?" - the statement said.

In its statement, the IRGC used harsh language regarding the US military and called on the American people to oppose the activities of their country's army.
