Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that Armenia's desire to join the European Union (EU) will not last long.
Modern.az reports that Lavrov spoke about this in a statement to journalists at the Eastern Economic Forum.
He claimed that the European Union has lost its previous advantages from an economic point of view.
"Economically, the European Union is losing its advantages due to many factors, including its lack of foresight, or, to put it more harshly, its stupidity," Lavrov said.
The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry noted that some countries, including Serbia and Armenia, are taking steps towards joining the EU.
"Our Serbian friends, and now our Armenian colleagues, are trying to join the EU. I am sure that their enthusiasm will pass very soon," Lavrov said.
According to Lavrov, the European Union itself is "destroying" the economic advantages it currently possesses.
