Russian President Vladimir Putin said he was familiar with the open letter from his Ukrainian counterpart Vladimir Zelensky.

Modern.az reports with reference to the Russian media that Putin stated this at the plenary session of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

"Press secretary Dmitry Peskov showed me this letter yesterday. But we had a business meeting, a business dinner with the President of Uzbekistan. To be honest, I didn't have time to look at it. This morning Peskov handed me the paper again. I glanced at it," Putin said.

He also noted that Moscow and Kyiv should resolve the main issues on the settlement of the conflict between themselves, and other countries can act as guarantors.

"Of course, the main issues should be resolved between Russia and Ukraine. Our colleagues, both in the US and in other regions of the world, can create conditions and act as guarantors. We proceed from this," he said.

It should be noted that on June 4, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky wrote an open letter to Russian leader Vladimir Putin with a proposal for a ceasefire during a personal meeting and negotiations.
