Thus, the FRS kept the discount rate unchanged for the fifth time in a row. This is the second meeting held since the change of the FRS head - Kevin Warsh has held this post since the end of May.
At the previous meeting in June, the regulator again kept the interest rate at 3.5-3.75% per annum, but updated its macro forecasts for the coming years.
At the January, March and April meetings, the FRS discount rate also remained unchanged. Prior to this, the regulator had lowered the rate three times in a row. The FRS last raised the rate in July 2023.
