China has held direct talks with Yemen's Houthi movement ("Ansar Allah") to protect oil supplies in the Red Sea.
Modern.az reports that "Reuters" agency spread information about this.
It was stated that Beijing established direct contact with them to ensure the safe passage of Chinese oil tankers through the Bab al-Mandab Strait after the Houthis announced that they would impose restrictions on ships going to Saudi Arabian ports.
According to "Reuters" sources, China reached a separate agreement with the Houthis for each tanker voyage, and the parties also informed Iran about the agreements reached. After the restrictions were announced, at least four tankers carrying oil from Saudi Arabia to China safely passed through the Bab al-Mandab Strait.
According to the agency, China is interested in the uninterrupted continuation of crude oil supplies from Saudi Arabia's Yanbu port.
