Hundreds of people have been evacuated due to a forest fire in the province of Zamora, western Spain.
Modern.az reports that the fire approached the settlement of Fermoselle in the afternoon.
For safety reasons, authorities decided to evacuate residents of six small settlements.
Currently, several forest fires are ongoing in different regions of Spain. The largest fire has covered the autonomous community of Madrid and the province of Avila. Although the fire, which started last week and covered an area of approximately 77,000 hectares, has not yet been fully localized, the situation is reported to be stabilizing.
According to earlier information from Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, approximately 150,000 hectares of land have been destroyed and 13 people have lost their lives due to forest fires in Spain this year.
