In Japan, due to severe heat, approximately 18.6 thousand people have been hospitalized with a diagnosis of sunstroke in the last week, 45 of whom have died.

Modern.az reports that the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, which is responsible for the activities of the country's emergency medical service, disseminated information about this.

It was reported that approximately 18,600 people were admitted to hospitals with a diagnosis of sunstroke during the period from July 20-26. This indicator increased by more than 7.7 thousand compared to the previous week, reaching the highest level of 2026.

According to the information, the condition of more than 710 of those hospitalized was serious, and they required more than three weeks of treatment.

Approximately 58 percent of the victims are people over 65 years old.

It should be noted that in Japan, the air temperature in some regions exceeded 40 degrees Celsius for five consecutive days starting from July 21.
