Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha had a telephone conversation with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araqchi.
Modern.az reports that Sybiha announced this on his social media account.
The minister stated that during the conversation, there was an open exchange of views regarding the recent ship incident. According to him, all actions of Ukraine are aimed solely at defending against Russian aggression and have never targeted civilian vessels or people.
Sybiha noted that this position also applies to the issue of the Iranian citizen reportedly killed in the recent incident and the civilian vessel allegedly attacked.
The Ukrainian minister emphasized that the main cause of the events is Russia's war against Ukraine, and Moscow is responsible for all provocations, as well as losses.
He also called for refraining from steps that would increase tension and for an end to support for Russia's war against Ukraine. Sybiha added that Ukraine's position remains unchanged, and both Europe and the Middle East deserve stability, security, and peace.
