Out of 723,222 tourists who visited Azerbaijan for tourism purposes in January-June of this year, 21,898 people were one-day visitors.
Modern.az reports with reference to official statistics that this is 29.5% more than in the same period last year.
According to the information, 18,737 people, or 85.5% of one-day visitors, visited Azerbaijan for transit purposes.
During the reporting period, 1,072 people visited for business (+74.3%), 866 people (+29%) to visit relatives and friends, and 1,056 people (+16.2%) for recreation and entertainment.
In addition, 90 people (+34.3%) came to the country for shopping, and 77 people (2.1 times more) for religious pilgrimage.
The largest number of one-day visitors by country came from non-neighboring countries - 9,508 people (+16.9%). Russia with 7,026 people (+34.3%), Turkey with 4,228 people (+60.2%), Georgia with 954 people (+33.4%) and Iran with 182 people (-30%) followed.
5,816 Russian citizens (+35%) and 3,050 Turkish citizens (+56.6%) used Azerbaijan for transit. One-day visitors spent a total of 9 million 193.4 thousand manats in the country in January-June. This is 25.2% more than last year. 7 million 364.3 thousand manats, or 80.1% of the expenses, fell to transport services. This is 24.5% more than a year ago.
During the reporting period, tourists spent 1 million 86.5 thousand manats (+30.9%) on the purchase of goods and gifts, 710.6 thousand manats (+24.1%) on food, 4.8 thousand manats (+29.7%) on cultural services, 2.7 thousand manats (+50%) on sports and entertainment services, and 24.5 thousand manats (+33.1%) on other purposes.
