According to Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi, Tehran has not made any initiative to negotiate with the US in the last 15 days.
Modern.az reports that Gharibabadi said that the initiative for talks came from Washington.
“The Americans themselves wanted to hold talks. They also sent us a message through Oman that they would not resort to military operations,” the deputy minister said.
According to Gharibabadi, although Oman offered to involve a third country in the process of clearing mines from the southern part of the Strait of Hormuz, Tehran did not agree to this.
The Iranian official's statement was made against the background of reports about possible contacts between Tehran and Washington.
