US President Donald Trump said he agreed to cancel a planned major attack on Iran to reach an agreement with Tehran.

Modern.az reports that D. Trump wrote about this on the social network "Truth Social".

"The United States was in a state of full combat readiness to act against the Islamic Republic of Iran with military terror, power and force on a scale unprecedented since World War II," Donald Trump wrote.

"Nevertheless, Iran and other countries in the Middle East asked us to refrain from attacking, because the main contours of the agreement had already been agreed upon," the US leader added.

According to him, that agreement provided for the immediate and full opening of the Strait of Hormuz, as well as the elimination of the nuclear threat originating from Iran.

"Considering this request, for the sake of peace, as well as for the survival and prosperity of Iran, I agreed to cancel the strike on the condition that we can reach an agreement in a short time," Trump emphasized, adding that Israel also shares this position.
