The US will permanently apply rules that require citizens of 50 countries to pay a visa deposit of up to $20,000 for American visas.
Modern.az reports that the US State Department has released information on this matter.
It was stated that the practice of visa deposits for 50 countries, mainly covering Central and South America, Africa, and Asia, will become permanent.
Thus, the visa deposit system, which was introduced as a temporary measure in August 2025, will now be permanent. Instead of previous deposits ranging from $5,000 to $15,000, a single deposit of $20,000 has been set for citizens of all countries included in the program.
The deposit amount will be refunded to the visa holder if they do not violate the terms of their stay in the US.
