Approximately 50,000 migrants have entered the Spanish city of Ceuta from Morocco within 24 hours.
Modern.az reports that people are reaching Ceuta by crossing the border on foot and by swimming across the sea.
Local services are struggling to cope with the situation. The authorities have sent additional police forces to this Spanish enclave located in North Africa.
Following the incident, Italy's foreign minister supported the idea of temporarily suspending the free border crossing regime of the Schengen area with Spain. In addition, France has also announced that it will strengthen controls at the border with Spain.
