Former government officials from Russia, France, Great Britain, and Germany reportedly discussed the possibilities of a peaceful resolution to the Ukrainian conflict in Vienna in July.
Modern.az reports, citing Bloomberg, that the meeting discussed possible terms for an agreement to end the Russia-Ukraine war.
According to the information, former British National Security Advisor Tim Barrow, former German State Secretary Markus Ederer, and French diplomat Pierre Vimont participated in the meeting. The agency's source did not disclose the names of the former officials who participated from the Russian side.
Bloomberg writes that Germany, France, and Great Britain are currently cooperating with Ukraine to explore the possibilities of organizing direct talks with Russia.
Sources did not disclose whether the meeting was officially confirmed by the European "troika" countries. However, it was stated that Great Britain supports such initiatives, and France is aware of the contacts made.
It should be recalled that on July 21, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev announced that secret talks were held in Baku between Russian and German representatives.
According to him, former Prime Minister Viktor Zubkov and Valery Fadeyev, chairman of the Presidential Council for the Development of Civil Society and Human Rights, participated in the meeting from the Russian side. Aliyev stated that issues of a peaceful resolution to the Russia-Ukraine conflict were discussed at that meeting.
