Former president of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) Joseph Blatter has proposed the appointment of Lise Klaveness, president of the Norwegian Football Association, as the head of the organization.
Modern.az reports that Blatter announced this on his "X" social network page.
"Lise Klaveness deserves the highest respect. She is the only person who always takes a clear stand and does not go with the flow. It's time for a woman to lead FIFA."
45-year-old Lise Klaveness is a former player of the Norwegian national team. She has been the president of the Norwegian Football Federation since 2022.
It should be noted that the current president of FIFA, Gianni Infantino, has been criticized for his proposal to sell a part of the commercial rights of the World Cup to private investors. He may leave his post due to the current situation. Gianni Infantino has been leading FIFA since February 2016.
The next elections for the head of FIFA will be held in March 2027 in Morocco.
