A police operation was carried out on Çankaya Municipality, which is governed by the CHP in Ankara. Within the scope of the operation, a detention order was issued for 36 people, including the mayor Hüseyin Can Güner.

Modern.az reports that the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office announced that the operation was carried out within the framework of an investigation into allegations of bribery, giving bribes, forming and being a member of a criminal organization, as well as interfering with tenders.

According to the information, 27 of the suspects have already been detained. Police are searching various departments in the municipality building, and investigative measures are ongoing.

Çankaya Mayor Hüseyin Can Güner shared a post on his X account after the operation, stating that he is currently outside Ankara. He noted that he had informed the relevant authorities in advance that he would return to the capital within a few hours and ensured that a spare key was provided to the police for the search conducted at his home.

In his statement, Güner emphasized that they manage the municipality he leads within the framework of the law, and that detailed information will be provided to the public once the details of the investigation are clarified.

The CHP Ankara Provincial Organization, on the other hand, called the operation "unlawful" and called on party members and Ankara residents to demonstrate solidarity in front of the Çankaya Municipality building.
