Ruben Rubinyan, Speaker of the Armenian Parliament, had a phone conversation with Valentina Matviyenko, Speaker of the Federation Council of the Russian Federal Assembly.

It was stated that the parties discussed the agenda of inter-parliamentary cooperation between Armenia and Russia, emphasizing the importance of continuing parliamentary dialogue and cooperation on issues of mutual interest.
During the phone conversation, the current stage of bilateral relations between the two countries was also discussed. Rubinyan expressed concern about the unjustified restrictions imposed on the export of Armenian products to the Russian market and noted the importance of resolving the problem within the framework of existing legal agreements between the two countries, as well as the rules of the Eurasian Economic Union.
The parties also discussed Armenia–European Union relations. Rubinyan stated that, as Russia expects, a referendum on Armenia's membership in the European Union can only be practically possible after official Yerevan officially applies for EU membership and the process reaches a concrete stage.
At the end of the conversation, the parties reaffirmed their intentions to continue an open dialogue for the development of inter-parliamentary cooperation and the strengthening of mutual understanding on issues on the bilateral agenda.
