Hours before the parliamentary elections in Armenia, the main attention is focused on the political future of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. Although opinion polls show that he is ahead of his rivals, one of the main topics of discussion is the post-election regional course.
In case of Pashinyan's victory, whether a congratulatory message will be sent to him from Azerbaijan, as well as whether he will make one of his first foreign visits to Baku, are noteworthy points.
In his statement to Modern.az regarding the topic, former Minister of Foreign Affairs Elmar Mammadyarov stated that Nikol Pashinyan's visit to Azerbaijan after the elections is possible:
"Actually, anything can really happen. That is, Pashinyan can visit Azerbaijan after the elections. However, I do not believe that Azerbaijan will be among the first countries Pashinyan will visit after the elections. First of all, if Pashinyan wins after the elections, a little later, when looking at his domestic policy, they should change the text of the constitution. This will most likely happen through a referendum. This will make it possible to sign a peace agreement. If Pashinyan's visit or any international event is held in Azerbaijan, an opportunity will arise for him to visit our country within this framework."

The former minister said that sending a congratulatory message is entirely possible:
"It is entirely possible for a congratulatory message to be sent to Pashinyan by Azerbaijan after his victory. Most likely, the congratulation will be addressed not on behalf of the President, but on behalf of the Prime Minister. Because Nikol Pashinyan will be elected Prime Minister."
