In the first half of 2026, 716 crimes related to domestic violence were registered in Azerbaijan. As a result of these crimes, 722 people were injured, and 22 people lost their lives.
This information was provided by the State Statistics Committee in response to an inquiry from Modern.az.
Of the victims, 608 were women and 114 were men. Of the 22 people who lost their lives, 15 were women and 7 were men. Among the victims of domestic violence, there were also 8 minors. One of them lost their life. It was reported that of the registered crimes related to domestic violence, 21 were intentional homicides, 7 were attempted homicides, 17 were intentional grievous bodily harm, 28 were less grievous bodily harm, and 633 were minor bodily harm. Another 5 torture crimes were registered.
Compared to the same period last year, the number of crimes related to domestic violence decreased from 744 to 716, and the number of victims decreased from 750 to 722. The number of fatalities decreased from 23 to 22. In addition, the number of crimes related to intentional grievous bodily harm increased from 11 to 17.
