Egypt is preparing to build a new city from scratch near its capital, Cairo. The project aims to solve the country's growing population density and infrastructure problems.
Modern.az reports that this was announced by Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly.
According to him, the foundation of a large urban development project, which will be implemented with an investment of approximately 27 billion dollars, has already been laid. The new city will be built 60 kilometers east of Cairo, in the desert, and will house the presidential administration, government, ministries, as well as the parliament.
The project will be realized in the New Cairo area in partnership with Talaat Moustafa Group Holding, a private sector representative, and the National Bank of Egypt.
According to the information, the project envisages the creation of more than 155 thousand new jobs. The complex, which will consist of a total of 165 towers, will include residential, administrative and hotel zones. It is also planned to create more than 1.5 million square meters of green spaces and open areas.
The Prime Minister noted that the project will be an important turning point for Egypt in terms of urban development and economic development. According to him, the new city will be built in accordance with international standards, where reducing carbon emissions, protecting ecological balance and minimizing noise will be among the main priorities.
