A Serbian soldier serving within the framework of the UN peacekeeping mission in Lebanon (UNIFIL) has died as a result of being shot, and two more peacekeepers were wounded.
Modern.az reports that this was announced on the UN mission's X account.
It was stated that a Serbian citizen serving as part of the UN peacekeeping mission in Lebanon died from injuries sustained as a result of mortar fire on a position near Marjayoun in the south of the country.
During the incident, two of his colleagues – Spanish peacekeepers – were wounded. It was noted that they are currently receiving treatment at the international mission's base.
UNIFIL stated that investigations have been launched to determine the exact circumstances of the tragic incident.
The mission also extended its condolences to the family, relatives, and colleagues of the fallen peacekeeper.
