Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf stated that the agreement reached with the US has effectively changed the status of the Strait of Hormuz in Tehran's favor.
According to him, the US has “turned the potential of the Strait of Hormuz into a reality” for Iran.
According to Modern.az, citing IRNA, Qalibaf emphasized that Iran has sovereign rights in the Strait of Hormuz and will receive payment for the relevant services provided.
“Iran has sovereign rights in the Strait of Hormuz, and of course, we will receive payment for the services provided,” he said.
Qalibaf also noted that distrust of the US remains at its maximum level, even if a final agreement is reached and confirmed by a United Nations Security Council resolution.
“My distrust of America is at its maximum level. Even if the agreement is final and confirmed by a Security Council resolution, it is still completely invalid,” Qalibaf said.
He added that in Iran's approach, the boundary between diplomatic and military methods is quite conditional.
“The distance between diplomatic struggle and military struggle is very small for us, and our hand is on the trigger,” he added.
It should be recalled that on June 18, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and US President Donald Trump digitally and remotely signed the text of a memorandum on the cessation of conflict between the two countries.
