The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) of Armenia has granted the Prosecutor General's Office's request to initiate a criminal case against ex-president Robert Kocharyan.
Modern.az reports that lawyer Aram Orbelyan informed journalists about this.
According to the lawyer, the charges against Kocharyan are related to events allegedly occurring in 2004–2009 – abuse of power and money laundering.
Orbelyan noted that the defense side declared the charges to be unfounded and false.
It should be noted that the “Hayastan” bloc, led by Robert Kocharyan, took 3rd place in the June 7 parliamentary elections and won 12 mandates.
