Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly stated that Russia is ready for talks with Europe.
Modern.az reports that this was stated by the president's press secretary Dmitry Peskov to journalists, noting that Russia was not the initiator of the restriction of these relations.
The Kremlin spokesman said: "The President has repeatedly stated that we are ready for talks. We did not put forward the initiative to reduce these relations."
Peskov said that the European Union should investigate the real situation in the Ukrainian conflict. He emphasized that currently the EU is trying to negotiate with Russia from a strong position and based on Russia's weaknesses.
The Kremlin spokesman said that "it would be good for them to get acquainted with the real situation, including the Ukrainian conflict."
"If forces truly emerge there that understand the importance of restoring dialogue with Russia - not moralizing or, even worse, issuing ultimatums, but truly starting a dialogue that involves communication between both sides, then, of course, President Vladimir Putin and the Russian side will be open to it," Peskov emphasized.
