Chernobyl fires have worsened air quality in Kyiv.

Modern.az reports with reference to foreign media that the air quality has sharply deteriorated in Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, and several districts of the eponymous region.

According to information released by the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Institute on June 29, the reason for this is natural fires occurring in the Chernobyl zone.

According to the institution, smoke and airborne particles from the fires spread to Kyiv and surrounding areas due to the wind. Residents are advised not to stay outdoors for long periods unless necessary, to keep windows closed, and to monitor official information regarding air quality.
